Now he’s back, for one night, with a team that is doing O.K. but not nearly as well as the suddenly dominant Knicks. On Saturday night, several players were asked their thoughts about Monday night. Two of those who commented, Steve Novak and Tyson Chandler, were happy participants in Lin’s giddy run last season. Two others, Jason Kidd and Raymond Felton, were with other teams last season, although both came to the Garden as visitors while Linsanity was riding high and witnessed the phenomenon up close. He’s at a different place now and has a different role. You know, I had a fun time playing with him. I don’t know what his reception will be. But whatever it is, he’s on the other side now.” And this: “Anybody I was friends with, I kind of consider myself to always be friends. So I always — not on a basketball level, I could care less about that. But just in his personal life, we always want to see him doing well. So we check up every now and then, just through text messages. So there’s no need to talk about that no more.” He went on: “They should give him a standing ovation when he comes back here, without a doubt.
