ATLANTA — His vision impaired, his head pounding and his jumper dampened,
Carmelo Anthony took a seat on the Knicks’ bench and watched the critical
minutes unfold Sunday night. Even through the blurs and the distortions, he
could see the clear signs of a minor revival.
眼花撩乱、头昏脑胀加上有气无力，甜瓜男孩在对阵老鹰的关键时刻坐在板凳席上。即使
模糊和扭曲，他仍然清楚的看到了细微的复苏的徵兆。
The Knicks rediscovered their defense, their 3-point shooting and their
confidence, all in one spectacular five-minute stretch of the fourth quarter,
and promptly turned a close game into a 92-79 rout of the Atlanta Hawks.
尼克找回了他们的防守，找回了三分投射的能力，还找回了他们的自信，全都发生在第四

Anthony had been poked in his left eye in the first quarter and was taking
what was meant to be a short rest early in the fourth. The longer he sat, the
less the Knicks seemed to need him.

Amar’e Stoudemire began attacking the basket, scoring 10 of his 26 points in
the period. Roger Mason, Shawne Williams and Landry Fields hit big
3-pointers. Suddenly, the Knicks were ahead by 18 points, with their most
dynamic scorer on the bench.

With the Knicks playing again Monday night, Coach Mike D’Antoni said it was
best to leave him there. Anthony sat out the final 10 minutes 14 seconds.

“I was going to give him two minutes, maybe three,” D’Antoni said. “Then
we started going. Then I said, Well, I’ll steal another minute. Then we’re

point, might as well leave him over there.”

On this night, the Knicks were better off without him. Anthony said he got an
instant migraine when Al Horford poked his eye in the first quarter. The pain
was so intense that Anthony tossed aside his headband, because it felt too
tight.

Despite those concerns, Anthony took 18 shots — second only to Stoudemire —
and missed 12. He finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, but
also had 5 turnovers in his most challenging and erratic night as a Knick.

It took several players to fill the void — Fields with 15 points, Williams

Anthony said he would be fine for Monday’s game against the Utah Jazz. For
one night, the Knicks found they could beat a quality team without their
newest star (and without their starting point guard, Chauncey Billups, who
missed his third straight game).

They did it with defense, holding Atlanta (37-26) to 37 points in the second
half and taking advantage of 21 Hawks turnovers. It was a spectacular
turnaround from Friday’s loss to Cleveland, when the Knicks gave up 119
points to the league’s worst team.

“The defense was outstanding,” said D’Antoni, who credited Jared Jeffries
with setting the tone with his defense on Horford (4 points). “It’s a
routine, it's a habit. Hopefully, they'll get into it. Hopefully it sticks.”

The victory kept the Knicks (32-29) a step ahead of the charging Philadelphia
76ers (32-30), who beat Golden State earlier Sunday. A loss would have
dropped the Knicks to seventh place in the Eastern Conference for the first
time since Dec. 2.

As the Knicks’ fourth-quarter surge grew, so — oddly — did the volume at
Philips Arena. The Knicks were 900 miles from home, but they had the support
of at least half the building. Stoudemire bathed in a chorus of “M.V.P.!”
chants. Anthony drew roars. And the loudest screams for “dee-fense!” came
when the Hawks had the ball.
当尼克球员第四节在场上大发飙时，很怪的，场边观众也在老鹰主场喧嚣不已。纽约可是
在900英里远啊！但他们在这里得到至少一半以上的支持。阿骂沉浸在一阵MVP呼声中，甜

“I thought we were home for a second,” Stoudemire said, smiling. “The
confidence just grew from there.”

Atlanta cut a 9-point first-half deficit to 44-42 by halftime. The Hawks got
their last 4 points from Jamal Crawford, who sank a 3-pointer while drawing a
foul. Crawford converted the free throw for his 33rd 4-point play, extending
his N.B.A. record.
老鹰半场结束前缩减了原本9分的差距到42-44。最後4分都是Jamal Crawford得的，还弄了
一球四分打，也使他的四分打纪录来到33次。(好像蛮强的耶)
The Knicks briefly lost control of the game in the third quarter, but
finished the period on a 10-3 kick, with 3-pointers from Williams and Anthony
Carter and two big defensive plays — a steal by Carter and a Mason block of
Crawford.
尼克在第三节一度失去对球赛的控制，不过在这节要结束时打了一波10比3，包括Williams
和老卡特的三分球以及两球精彩的防守：老卡特的抄截和Mason盖Crawford火锅。
Ronny Turiaf and Bill Walker joined Billups in street clothes, leaving the
Knicks with a makeshift rotation and some odd combinations. Shelden Williams,
Carter and Mason all played in the first quarter — together.

Mason had played in just 11 games this season, mostly in garbage time and
never more than 15 minutes. He played 25 minutes Sunday, and though he scored
just 5 points, they all came in the fourth quarter.

“Obviously, it felt good to contribute,” Mason said. “I know I have a lot
to contribute to this team. So I just keep working.”

REBOUNDS 额外补充
Chauncey Billups (thigh), Ronny Turiaf (knee) and Bill Walker (knee) are
listed as day to day. Turiaf is the most likely to return for Monday’s game
against Utah, followed by Billups, according to Mike D’Antoni. Billups, who
called the thigh bruise the worst of his career, said he still had trouble
pushing off his left leg.
枪西的大腿、屠夫和Walker的膝盖，都在每日观察名单上。根据冷笑话的说法，屠夫最有
可能在对爵士能上场，再来是枪西。枪西说这是他生涯以来最严重的大腿伤痛，说他仍然
