"I want to ease into practice this week," said Houston, who has been sidelined since last March with a sore left knee. "But I don't want to push it." Houston is currently on the injured list and is hopeful he will return to action by early December. "I'm keeping my fingers crossed," Lenny Wilkens said. The Knicks are expecting Houston to practice today, which would include some contact drills. WE'VE MET BEFORE: Trevor Ariza had a brush with greatness - greatness being LeBron James - long before he and the Cavs' star reached the NBA. Two years ago, Ariza's high school team, Westchester of Los Angeles, played James' team, St. Vincent-St. Mary's of Ohio, in a tournament that was held in Trenton. Ariza guarded James but picked up two early fouls that he says allowed James to score 40 points. Ariza says he himself scored 17. "You could tell that he had talent," Ariza said. "I always see potential and who is going to be a player. At the time he was ready to go to the NBA. Just look at what he's doing now." Ariza says he toyed with the possibility of jumping straight from high school to the NBA but instead attended UCLA for one season. OAK ROOM: Former Knick Charles Oakley was invited by his old team to address the crowd prior to last night's game. "I've have a lot of memories from playing here," Oakley said. "Thank you for all the great years." He also urged the crowd to continue to support the Knicks. Oakley is currently a free agent and does not consider himself retired. BREW UP: Backup point guard Jamison Brewer was activated from the injured list last night and replaced Moochie Norris, who was put on the injured list with left Achilles tendinitis. Brewer spent last season with the Indiana Pacers and is a close friend of Ron Artest. ...
