标题[情报] Eric Musselman to Be Named Coach of NBA D-League's Reno

This Thursday, the NBA Development League's Reno Bighorns "will make a major
announcement at a 10:30 a.m. press gathering," according to the press release
they sent Monday to announce their schedule for the upcoming season.

According to sources with knowledge of the situation, the press conference
will be used to announce Eric Musselman, the former NBA head coach who
compiled 108-138 record over three seasons, as the next head coach of the
Bighorns.

The 45-year-old Musselman will become the second coach in league history with
NBA head coaching experience following Sam Vincent, who coached the Anaheim
Arsenal after a season at the helm of the Charlotte Bobcats.

Musselman most recently coached the 2011 adidas Nations team to a
championship Monday. Earlier this summer, he also coached the Dominican
Republic's National Team 2010 Centrobasket Championships in the team's quest
to qualify for the 2011 FIBA Americas tournament. Prior to that, he was a
commentator for the D-League's nationally televised games on VERSUS last
season and college basketball on Comcast Sports California as well as an NBA
analyst on FOX Sports Radio.

Musselman hinted this summer that he was interested in getting back into
coaching and was rumored to have interviewed for several NBA assistant
coaching jobs.

"I think if the right opportunity presented itself to get back on the floor,
I'd love to do that," Musselman told FanHouse in June of the opportunity in
the Dominican. "Having watched and observed so many different practices since

stuff is going to be invaluable and I'll finally be able to put a lot of that
into place now."

The most interesting dynamic of this situation is that the Reno Bighorns' NBA
parent clubs are the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors, the two NBA
teams that Musselman served as head coach for in the NBA. While that could
begin a bit awkward, Musselman no doubt has the development know-how and
minor league experience to shed any doubts that the NBA clubs might have.

Not only does Musselman come from a coaching lineage -- his father Bill
coached 295 games between the ABA and NBA -- but Eric's coaching roots began
in the NBA's minor leagues when he coached the now-defunct CBA's Rapid City
Thrillers from 1990-1995. At the age of 23, Musselman became the youngest
coach in CBA history

During his time with the Thrillers, Musselman helped 24 players reach the
NBA, proving that he has valuable experience in developing players on their
way to the big leagues -- certainly a quality that will help him in Reno.
While development is always the biggest thing touted about the D-League,
teams are also interested in winning, which Musselman's been able to do as a
minor league head coach as well.

Musselman posted a 270-122 record in the CBA, the second best ever behind

Musselman will replace former Bighorns head coach Jay Humphries, who served
as an assistant with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Vegas portion of the
NBA Summer League.
