SALT LAKE CITY (TICKER) —Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett will miss the
last three games of the team’s West Coast road trip.
The All-Star returned to Boston Friday to have an MRI on his strained right
knee.
The reigning Defensive Player of the Year will miss contests against Phoenix,
Denver and the Los Angeles Clippers. Boston returns home to face Indiana on
February 27.
Garnett suffered the injury in the second quarter of Thursday’s 90-85 loss
to Utah.
Garnett was injured with 1:56 left in the first half when he landed awkwardly
while going up for a rebound. Garnett avoided putting any weight on the leg
as he was helped to the locker room.
The Celtics’ emotional leader, Garnett took the floor for warmups before the
second half, but returned to the locker room and was shut down as a
precaution.
Garnett had eight points and two rebounds in just under 15 minutes. The
14-year veteran is averaging 16.3 points and 8.8 rebounds in 53 games.
