The Italian champions travel to Belgium next Wednesday but will not be able to count on their charismatic captain. Del Piero pulled up in training with the national side on Tuesday and flew back to Turin almost immediately. The No 10 underwent initial tests on Wednesday afternoon which confirmed a muscle pull in his right leg. The 31-year-old has already been ruled out of Sunday's match at Empoli and is a major doubt for the European Cup clash. Del Piero is set to undergo more tests in a few days time to get a clearer understanding of when he will be available again. The former Padova youngster has yet to appear for the outfit this season after sitting on the bench in the Week 1 opener against Chievo. His absence will now open the door for Adrian Mutu to possibly figure in boss Fabio Capello's plans, after he was left in the stands for the opening round of Serie A.
