The film will be an American/Taiwanese joint production with planned distribution through Hollywood studios. The teaser will be shot by a professional crew using the Red Epic camera (the camera used for James Cameron’s Avatar 2). Characters To Cast DAVID CHEN, male, 23-33, is a tall, good-looking American Born Chinese (ABC) man. David is the main character of the film and the lens through which the viewer sees the entire story. We are looking for a strong actor who is able to convey complex emotions with few words. English ability is a secondary consideration and the producers will work with the actor on his English dialogue. WANG’S SON, male, 16-26, is the spoiled Chinese son of a factory owner in Southern China. He is an awkward, Southern Chinese young man with unrealistic dreams of becoming a professional dancer. His main scene will involve an over-the-top, choreographed dance routine, which he performs in front of the workers in his father’s factory. We are seeking a strong comic actor for this role. FACTORY GIRL, female, 18-28, is an understated, pretty girl from rural Southern China who works in a factory. We are looking for an actress who can convey a steely resolve with a country girl’s humility and naivete. CAPTAIN SONG, male, 40-60, is a corrupt police official from Southern China. He is adept at using his power to achieve illegal and unconscionable ends. For this role, we need a sinister, older man who can deliver lines dripping with contempt and innuendo. MAY, female, 40-50, is the overly strict manager of a factory in Southern China. She is extremely harsh and slightly sadistic in her treatment of her workers. This character is a stern, no-nonsense older woman. WANG TOUGH, male, 25-45, is a thug who works for the owner of a factory. He is from Southern China and is heavy-set and strong. He may have old scars from a violent past. He fills a room with his intimidating presence. Project Details Plot Synopsis This is a film about global trade told in a non-linear, episodic fashion, viewed through the points of view of the main characters as their stories intertwine. Production Details The teaser is a short film version of the feature film. The final cut will be between 5 and 15 minutes long. The teaser will be shot on the Red Epic camera, the new standard in HD digital film cameras, with a professional film crew between November and December 2011 in Taipei, Taiwan and its surrounding areas. Compensation There is no direct compensation for this project but actors will have a chance to work with a world-class production team, professional acting talent and state of the art film equipment. You will also have the unique opportunity to impress the producers in an intimate work environment and have the potential to be cast in the feature length production. All transportation and meals will be covered during the production. Upon completion, you will be provided with a DVD copy of the teaser, which you can include in your portfolio.
