Chang belts 3-run blast for 1st MLB home run Indians prospect provides key insurance in win over Angels By Sarah Wexler @SarahWexler32 2 minutes ago ANAHEIM -- Infielder Yu Chang provided the Indians with some much-needed insurance in Monday’s 6-2 win over the Angels at Angel Stadium. It happened to come in the form of his first career home run. With two runners on and two outs in the sixth, Chang drove a 1-2 fastball from Justin Anderson into the seats in right-center field. “It feels great, man,” Chang said. “It just happened. I just swung hard -- not thinking about it too much, just swinging.” The three-run homer increased Cleveland's lead to 6-1. Manager Terry Francona noted how important that was, especially with a still-adjusting Carlos Carrasco set to enter the game later. “As far as the game was concerned, it spread it out where if, OK, Carrasco gives up a run, it’s not the end of the world. It’s a run,” Francona said. “It was a great swing.” Chang, the Tribe's No. 11 prospect per MLB Pipeline, made his big league debut on June 28. He has started regularly for the Indians since getting called up again on Aug. 25. “He’s young and he’s getting a lot thrown at him in a hurry,” Francona said. “But he made a really good defensive play tonight, he smacked a three-run homer the other way. That’ll be great for his confidence.” A native of Taiwan, Chang, 24, was signed as an international free agent in 2013 at the age of 18.
