Sangeet translated literally means "song". On this evening, we'll be together for a night of music and dancing. 真正的婚礼: A Bengali wedding ceremony is a union of two souls, valid for the lifetime of the couple. The rituals of the ceremony are based on the hymns contained in the Vedas, sacred Hindu scriptures which are over 5000 years old. Here are some of the events that we'll celebrate during our visit to India. We hope you'll join us for the festivities. Gaye Halud (Friday, January 23, 2009) This ceremony is to invite the Goddess Ganga to the wedding. Prosun will be bathed with turmeric paste and water from the holy Ganga. The same paste will be sent to Shreedevi for her bath. Bor Jatri (Friday, January 23, 2009) Prosun's family and friends dress in their best attire and journey to the wedding hall. Yagna (Friday, January 23, 2009) Shreedevi and Prosun will sit in front of the sacred fire and chant mantras after the priest. Agni, the God of fire is made the divine withness to the marriage. Bashi Biye (Saturday, January 24, 2009) The morning after the wedding ceremony, the newly weds visit the temple and worship the Sun God in the presence of the priest. Bou Bhaat (Sunday, January 25, 2009) Prosun will take an oath in front of the family elders that he will provide food and clothes and be fully responsible for Shreedevi from that day onwards. During the lunch, Shreedevi will serve rice too all the family members of her in-laws. --
