标题[问题] 申请公民中，但绿卡即将过期

朋友最近在申请公民，
上个星期已经去按指纹了，
但是绿卡六月即将到期，
也不知道还要等多久才能排到面试，
届时绿卡一定会过期！
以我的认知，即便绿卡过期了，
还是可以拿着“过期绿卡”去公民面试，
应该是不会被刁难的，
他没有要出境，
所以也不需要去renew 绿卡，
但朋友看到以下内容还是担忧，
因此想来请问各位。
这是他在 USCIS 网站的 Virtual Assiatant 得到的回答：
If you apply for naturalization 6 months or more before the expiration date on
your Permanent Resident Card (formerly known as an Alien Registration Card or
“Green Card”), you do not have to apply for a new card. However, you may ap
ply for a renewal card if you wish by using an “Application to Replace Perman
ent Resident Card” (Form I-90) and paying the appropriate fee. If you apply f
or naturalization less than 6 months before the expiration date on your Perman
ent Resident Card, or do not apply for naturalization until your card has alre
ady expired, you must renew your card.
问题1) 朋友申请公民的时间点是少於六个月的，朋友必须要去renew他的绿卡吗？
问题2) 如果不 renew 绿卡，但被现在的公司发现绿卡过期了，会有什麽问题吗？
