Letter writer: two independent (assistant and associate professors, both from the US) two dependent (my postdoc supervisor, and a collaborator from a liberal arts college) 以下流程主申请人跟配偶都是同时进行: 2016: 5/5 - signed a contract with the lawyer (VC) 9/14 - i-140 receive date 9/15 - medical exam 10/1 - Filed i-485/i-765/i-131 for both myself and my wife 10/4 - i-765/ i-131 receipt date 10/13- i-485 receipt date 11/2 - Fingerprints notice 11/15- EAD/AP combo card is being produce 11/16- Finger printing day 11/22- EAD/AP combo card received 2017: 07/25 - EAD/AP renewal application receipt date 08/29 - i-140 approval notice received -- almost one year. 11/14 - Received renewed combo card 11/29 - redo medical exam (expecting a medical RFE since it's been over a year) 12/8 - Traveled on AP, F1 status terminated. 2018: 01/09 - RFE received (medical) 01/11 - Response to RFE mailed back to USCIS 01/30 - New Card Is Being Produced 02/02 - Card was mailed to me 以下是一些心得... 申请140的资料准备比想像中容易一些 律师会叫你写几页的短文解释你的重要文章, 还有各个文章分别对你的领域有什麽显着贡献 (不一定要是你第一作者的...) 有一两篇文章,我只是20几个帮忙取data的研究生中的一员 letter of petition里面照样可以吹成你有不可抹灭的贡献 还有你取data的能力符合national interests 推荐人的部分, 建议平常系上有speaker或是去conference时 就多找人聊聊, 跟他们介绍你自己的研究(或是了解一下对方的研究) 找推荐信时十分有帮助 唯一遇上的一个问题是 我的其中一个独立推荐人在140送件前跟我一起挂上了同一篇挂了几十个人的paper, 所以最後推荐人变成只有两个是独立的 另外,除了四封推荐信之外, 我citation最多的文章不是我挂一作 所以律师还写了一封信让该篇文章的第一作者背书说 我对该篇文章有重大贡献 送出140之後很快按了指纹也拿到EAD/AP, 然後就是无止尽的等等等... NSC本来就不怎麽快了 加上2016年底的Matter of Dhanasar事件, NIW审查规定修改, 整个NSC的审查停滞了可能超过半年 当初盘算着大概一年甚至半年就能拿到卡的我 实在是太天真了 Matter of Dhanasar这件事应该打乱了不少人的计画 只能在心里祝祷Dhanasar老兄他身体健康 最後 从送出140到拿卡总共超过一年半... 终於可以戒掉上uscis网站刷case status的习惯了! 奉劝各位有兴趣透过NIW办绿卡的朋友 律师如果愿意给approve or refund的deal就话尽早行动吧! 还有记得把EB1a也列入考虑,不要眼中只有NIW 因为博班高年级生/博後阶段, 有没有身份在工作跟funding source 选择上差很多... 我自己因为没身份的关系, 很多限制毕业两年内才能申请的fellowship没有资格投递 虽然说不一定会上,不过连送件的资格都没有会让人觉得可惜就是了... 祝大家好运! --
