Brown said Allen Iverson still instills fear in his opponents, even though he has a smaller offensive role now than at any other point in a 13-year career. "At any given time, if he gets hot, that ball is going to be in his hands," Brown said. "And he can get hot at any given time. That's the scary part about it. We still have to prepare and have things in the back of your head of what you're going to do in case he gets rolling." Iverson got rolling in the second half of the Pistons' 90-80 loss on Sunday, scoring 10 points in the third quarter, six in the fourth and a team-high 22 overall in 44 minutes. He hit three midrange jumpers early in the third quarter, then drove for two lay-ups in the final minute to give the Pistons a 66-58 lead entering the fourth. He was subbed out early in the fourth, then reinserted with 7 minutes left and his team down, 73-68. He made a quick lay-up and two free throws to bring the deficit to 75-74 with 5 minutes left. "We put the ball in his hands to make plays," coach Michael Curry said. "He made some plays in the beginning of the fourth, and they defended him pretty well." After that, however, his offense wasn't a factor. Iverson averages 27.2 points for his career, but he is scoring only 17.8 for the Pistons. His number hasn't been called as often as it was called when he played in Philly or Denver. "I would love to be a focal part on the offensive end," he said. "That's where I've been all my career. And that's why I play the game. That's the type of competitor I am. In crucial situations, I want the ball in my hands. But like I've been saying all along: The calls they make, I trust my teammates and the coaching staff to be able to get us over the hump." The Pistons are 21-21 with Iverson and 25-21 overall. Asked if he thought his team could be better if he shouldered a heavier offensive load, he went in a different direction. "Don't do that to me," he said. "You're opening up a can of worms. I don't even want to do that. I trust the way everything is going. I don't have a choice.
