标题[问题] 有关数量的表示方式?

抱歉 原本发在Eng-class 但还是不太理解...
请问有关writing的task1 数量的表示方式大家都怎麽写呢?
the amount of
the number of
the quantity of
目前查了一下 the amount of +不可数
the number of +可数
the quantity of+可数及不可数
那请问 如果我要比较不同年(或方法)的数量
amount number quantity可以复数型式吗?
例如
the
numbers of goods transported by rail and water are the same.
(想法是 因为我要比较的是两种方式的"总数" 所以有两个总数 number+s)
或是
the
amounts of merchandise transported by rail and water are the same.
(同上)
还是遇到上开一律都以单数表示呢?
