Juande Ramos sees our high-profile friendly against AS Roma as the perfect preparation for the big kick-off in the league six days later. Runners-up in Serie A and Italian Cup winners last season, Roma visit the Lane on Sunday, August 10, 3pm. We then travel to Middlesbrough on the opening weekend of the 2008-09 Barclays Premier League season. Roma are one of Italy's most famous clubs and regular competitors in the Champions League - Manchester United put them out in the quarter-finals last season.
