Spurs lost to PSV Eindhoven on penalties in the last 16 of the Uefa Cup on Wednesday to suggest there is little to play for in the closing weeks of the current campaign. The Carling Cup success has guaranteed European football for next term and Spurs are in little danger of being sucked into the relegation battle. But assistant manager Poyet does not want to see the players easing up, and has set the team a challenge, starting with Sunday's trip to Manchester City. Poyet said: "The target for us now is that we keep improving and that means we have to win as many games as possible. "We are going to start building for next season starting with Sunday." Despite the club's defeat to PSV, Poyet believes the experience of a shoot-out will stand the players in good stead for the future. He added: "It was a great and fantastic experience for some of our players. "Some of them had that walk with the ball from the middle of the pitch to the penalty spot for the first time and that will bode very well for them in the future.
