新闻来源 - Sky Sports Jol happy with upturn in form Martin Jol was pleased with Tottenham's performance in the 1-0 victory over West Ham, but had to defend Jermain Defoe against accusations of biting Javier Mascherano. Mido's wonderful goal secured the points for Spurs and extended their unbeaten run to five games, and Jol believes the pieces are finally starting to come together following a slow start to the season. "The last three or four weeks have been good," he told Sky Sports. "We had a difficult start, to say the least, but we are now getting the points. "It is still not convincing but overall, if you look at the chances we had, we should have won two or 3-0. "It was not easy because for us it was our third game, while they have had a week's rest, but the crowd was terrific and they lifted us. "It is not easy to play three games in a week after Europe, but I am very satisfied. It was a very good win for us. "The final ball is not always 100 percent but that is something we are going to work on." Jol singled out Mido for special praise, after he came into the starting line-up for Dimitar Berbatov and scored the all-important goal. "Berbatov was really tired so Mido had to show something," Jol admitted. "Before the goal it was difficult for him but then he showed what he was all about. If he gets the ball in the box he is always dangerous." West Ham's Mascherano claimed that Defoe bit him following a challenge from the Argentine on the Tottenham striker in the first half, but Jol has insisted the incident should not be blown out of all proportion. Jol explained: "He was nibbling his arm - there will be no mark. Ask Mascherano if he has got a mark. "It is part of the game.
