The Egypt international is to fly home to play in the African Nations Cup. But he will now be available for Tottenham's trip to Manchester City on 4 January and their encounter with Liverpool at Anfield on 14 January. Mido was left out of the Spurs side for the defeat by West Brom at the Hawthorns on Wednesday to give Grzegorz Rasiak a chance to acclimatise. Jol is likely to turn to the former Derby player during Mido's absence. The 22-year-old will play in Egypt's friendly with Nigeria but then has a window in which he can return to north London before the African tournament starts on 20 January.
