The England midfielder fell awkwardly during Spurs' League Cup defeat at fourth division Grimsby Town on Tuesday. 'Michael Carrick twisted his ankle in a bad way. I've seen it on video again,' coach Martin Jol told the club's website. 'Thankfully, he's recovering quickly but I think it will take a couple of weeks. 'So we'll have to play with a new midfield again against Fulham but at least we have five days to prepare for that game.' Jol hopes to have Dutch international Edgar Davids, who has been out with a groin strain, back for the home Premier League match against Fulham on Monday. 'Edgar has a good chance to play and hopefully he will because it's not just about his quality, it's about his stature and he gives us confidence,' Jol said.
