Murky as the 2013 NBA draft appears, this much is clear: It’s highly unlikely Georgetown small forward Otto Porter lasts to the Charlotte Bobcats’ fourth selection. Agent David Falk confirms Porter will work out only for the teams with the top three picks: Cleveland, Orlando and Washington. That means Falk, who is Washington-based, feels strongly that Porter can go no later than the Wizards’ No. 3 pick. I’d heard as much from various NBA sources. Porter is a good fit for the Wizards on several levels: Their most obvious need is small forward and as a Georgetown Hoya, Porter has strong local ties to D.C. I’m guessing if Porter goes first or second, the Wizards’ second-favorite option would be Nevada-Las Vegas forward Anthony Bennett. In Charlotte Porter would have been somewhat redundant to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who the Bobcats drafted second overall a year ago. (Although general manager Rich Cho has said the current roster shouldn’t influence who the Bobcats select at No. 4). If Porter is off the board in the top three, then the Bobcats would have access to at least two of the following players: Bennett, Kentucky center-power forward Nerlens Noel, Kansas shooting guard Ben McLemore and Indiana guard-forward Victor Oladipo. Maryland center Alex Len could also be in the Bobcats’ mix. The Bobcats, who don’t have a second-round pick this year, haven’t held any pre-draft workouts so far. Based on circumstance, there might not be many workouts. Bennett (rotator cuff surgery), Noel (knee surgery) and Len (ankle surgery) are all unable to audition due to injury.
