The World #1 enters the round of 16 and plays Austrian Sybille Bammer on Sunday. Justine was slated fourth in the day on Philippe Chatrier, but with the extended Nalbandian/Monfils match clocking in at about the four hour mark, the birthday match turned into a 19:15 hrs. night match. The lite sprinkles of rain, and cold temperatures were less than ideal as the sunny afternoon, but Justine kept things upbeat for herself and won the first set 6-2 in 36 minutes. The 3rd rounder wasn't as simple as the score. Santangelo plays an eccentric combination of 1980's no speed marshmellow balls, hard flat serving, and volleys with deceptively solid baseline retrieval skills. There was a little medical time out for Justine to pop a pill for a minor stomach and cramp problem, but the match otherwise was reigned by the Belgian tennis heroine. Justine won the second set 6-3 in 40 minutes. It wasn't the prettiest match for an irrestible occasion, but Justine's giddy smile with a thumbs up gesture, and a blown kiss into the crowd after match point lit up Philippe Chatrier to finish in style.
