It was a surprise demolition by Justine who was taken to three sets from Kirilenko last year in Berlin. The Roland Garros champion prides herself in improving previous scorelines, and that's exactly what she did in this second career meeting with the young Russian. A rising reputable talent with nothing to lose, inspired Justine to raise her game with clear percise tennis. It was a cavalier performance above yesterday's round, she didn't let Kirilenko into the match. The Russian managed only 1 break point, and game to get on the scoreboard. Justine charged forward, and keen eager play from Maria was wiped away with ease. Stats sometimes don't do justice to a match, but 58% first serves in, and a 71% of points won on serve tells the story. 27 points for the Belgian, and only 12 for the Russian in the first set. Things didn't get any easier when Kirilenko picked up a slight knee injury in the last game of the set. It went 6-1 to Justine in 28 minutes. A positive attitude wasn't enough for Maria Kirilenko as Justine zoomed off with the second set. The world's most magical backhand had no concentration problems, nor any side trips, and ended the second set at six love in 26 minutes.
