Justine will next clash with #1 seed Lindsay Davenport on Tuesday. This 4th round match could have been played outdoors today, but the weather forecasters warned of extreme temperatures in the 40 C range on Sunday. Rod Laver, and Vodafone matches begun with retractable roofs closed. This was Justine's fourth meeting with the Spanish veteran Virginia Ruano-Pascual. The Spaniard started out on serve, but broken immediately by the Belgian. Ruano-Pascual is an excellent volleyer, the number #2 doubles player on the WTA rankings, and holder of many grand slam doubles titles, but she was unable to fight in the first set. Justine's hyper-aggressive singles game was razor edge sharp. Justine shredded the first set 6-0 in 26 minutes. Ruano Pascual played a less conservative second set, utilizing her natural volley talents. She held her service games with all court play. Entertaining work from both players, but Justine's flowing elegant backhands, and forehands took her higher. The Belgian broke the Spaniard from 4-3, and served for the match. 6-4 on Justine's first matchpoint in 46 minutes. Today's mission completed. Final Score: 6-0 6-4 in 1 hr and 12 minutes --
