CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -
Former NBA star and Atlanta Hawks player Daron Oshay "Mookie" Blaylock is on
life support after an accident in Clayton County on Friday, police said.
Blaylock and two other people were transported to Atlanta Medical Center
after the accident, which took place on Tara Blvd in Jonesboro between 12:30
p.m. and 1 p.m., according to Jonesboro police.
Authorities say that Blaylock was driving northbound on Tara Blvd. in an SUV
when he crossed the median and struck an oncoming van.
Blaylock was unresponsive at the hospital, officials said.
A female passenger in the van was in "extreme critical condition" at the
hospital, according to authorities.
The condition of the driver of the van was not immediately known.
According to the NBA's website, Blaylock, 46, played in the NBA for 13
seasons for three different teams, including the Hawks from 1992-1999. He
retired in 2002.
