其实是讨论一些第七集所揭露的 timeline 虽然 Rowling 早就坦承过自己的数学不好 多次被发现算错时间 XD 但仍想请读过的板友讨论看看以厘清第七集的「数字问题」 免不了可能会牵涉剧情 请阅毕的读者才继续看下去喔 问题：「邓不利多到底出生於哪年呢？」 虽然全系列故事中似乎没有关於他的数字线索 只知道他很老 但是作者曾在访问里透露过 1. 经查有两个年代 c. 1844 Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore to Percival and Kendra Dumbledore http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronology_of_the_Harry_Potter_stories c. 1845 Dumbledore family http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dumbledore_family 2. 典出作者某次受访的内容 "About the Books: transcript of J.K. (Harry hasn't found out about that yet.) 离该访问最近发行的第四集於2000年7月出版 魔法世界虚构时间：1994下半年～1995上半年 但是应当从该集故事时间的开头或是结尾开始算起 未被定义…… 1995-150=1845 1994-150=1844 3. 根据第七集第十八章 刻薄的八卦记者 Rita Skeeter 所撰写的老邓传记道： "Now approaching his eighteenth birthday, Dumbledore left Hogwarts ..." 由此推断 Dumbledore 的生日应在学期刚结束、暑假开始後不久（巨蟹座？） 既然读者阅毕第四集後 故事也处於他还没过当年生日的时间 尚未多长一岁 推测 作者当时的意思应该是 Dumbledore 已满150岁 且将变成151岁？ 1995-(150+1)=1844 →所以似乎是1844年比较合理？ 顺带一提 在第七集第十八章的 Grindelwald 在16岁时被退学後 然後决定"travel abroad for some months" 待两位伟大的巫师相遇之际 Dumbledore 的母亲已过世一些日子 Dumbledore 应该也满18岁了 因此推算 Grindelwald 为1846年出生 可是 维基却说是1842年 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gellert_Grindelwald 推测是因为下一段"his own age"让人有 Grindelwald 旅行两年也变成18岁的错觉 可是 age 不一定是指「年龄」 也有可能是「时期」 而且前文已说"...for some months" 後文又说"Barely two months into..." 证明他只「旅行几个月」 而他俩的友谊其实只维持了「为期大约两个月的暑假」 所以 我觉得 Grindelwald 应当比 Dumbledore 小两岁而非大两岁吧？ 4. 第七集第十八章 老邓传记 The Greater Good 这章的倒数第二段： "[...] However, there can be no doubt that Dumbledore delayed, for some five years of turmoil, fatalities, and disappearances, his attack upon Gellert Grindelwald. [...]" 这里就牵涉到更严重的时间关键了 比对三个人的说法： Elphias Doge、Rita Skeeter（取材自Bathilda Bagshot）、Aberforth Dumbledore （美国版 pp. 16-20, 22-28, 217-218, 353-359, 564-568） 上述的 Dumbledore's attack 怎麽看就像是 Grindelwald's defeat 可是 大家都知道後者是在1945年被击败 如果是「事隔五年後」 1945-5=1940 Dumbledore 就变成 1940年毕业於 Hogwarts 了 →那麽 他就只比 Voldemort 大4岁多而已？！ 完全不合理呀～ 到底是怎麽回事呢？ 这里所谓的「五年」要如何解读才对？是我会错意了吗？ 鉴於已知的几个时间矛盾 我的直觉是作者再度不小心写错了？:p 维基百科并未提到这里的「五年」是什麽意思 本来都已经算出老邓和他家人早期事件的年代了 想到1998-1922=76 实在太年轻了 他应该要超过百岁才对吧 就对照第二集和 Voldemort 的过去…… 发现不太可能是「五年後」 应当是1945-(1844+18)=1945-1862=83 「八十三年後」吧？ 差太多了～ Orz （Nick 在第一集里第七章讲过的话 对照第二集忌日 也曾被发现有100年的误差 XD） 1945年是定锚点 而"for some five years"（大约五年）是关键 如果删掉"five"直接写"for some years"（多年）就没问题了吧？ 以上 细枝末节 恳请大家提供意见 ^^ ps 文章标题前半尽力保留一点头韵（ㄧ）的味道（Life and Lies） 但我更觉得中文应该分别用「双声词」 效果会更接近原本的感觉 前後两词可属不同声 但词本身要双声 例如：身世（ㄕ）与谎话（ㄏ） 如果能够押「邓」（ㄉ） 就更妙了 就会听到：ㄉ～ㄉ～ㄉ～←这个太难了 或者乾脆押尾韵：神话（ㄚ）与谎话（ㄚ） 若能配上「多」（ㄛ）：生活（ㄛ）与传说（ㄛ） 也很不错：～ㄛ～ㄛ～ㄛ 有兴趣的板友可以想想看 怎麽翻译最对味 just for fun （论皇冠职员看到的可能？） -- 感谢 aclytie, profmoony 上次讨论叙述观点 获益良多 我觉得很有趣 我的结语是 去上 Prof. Snape 的课 皮要绷紧点 耳聪目明手快 去上 Prof. Longbottom 的课 则不妨表达你的「爱」 XD --
