A total of 43,000 players have been balloted on the 2006 best player plus a world XI. The list of 55 nominations contains three of Chelsea's summer signings, Ashley Cole, Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko, plus Petr Cech, John Terry, Claude Makelele, Frank Lampard, Arjen Robben and Didier Drogba. The Chelsea list increases to ten if on-loan Hernan Crespo is included. Ronaldinho was last year's inaugural winner with Terry, Lampard, Makelele and Shevchenko all making the World XI. This year's winner will be announced on November 6.
