In the fourth, the Mets knocked out LA starter Hiroki Kuroda as he was
replaced with Hong-Chih Kuo. Kuo was the Dodgers savior, as he pitched 3
2-3 innings of scoreless and hitless baseball, walking only one while
striking out eight.
He was absolutely nasty. The Mets didn't even have a shot while he was on
the bump. Dominant performance.

All you need to know about this game
Only two pitchers in Dodgers history have thrown 3+ hitless innings, with
8 or more strikeouts against the Mets.
Hong Chih Kuo did it on Tuesday.
Sandy Koufax did it, in his no-hitter against the 1962 Mets.
Hong-Chih Kuo, 3-0 vs Mets in regular season (0-1 in playoffs)
Hong Chih Kuo, 1-11 vs all other teams
Let's move on to something else, shall we?

But once the Mets chased the Dodgers pitcher from the game and only down
by a run they produced just three hits ( two in the ninth) and allowed
reliever Kuo to look like a Cy Young candidate. The Mets looked at called
strike three, three times with two outs and runners in scoring position.

Unfortunately, the Mets’ offense was handcuffed by Sandy Koufax in relief
… oh wait, that wasn’t Koufax, but Kuo, as in, Hong-Chih. You know, the
same Hong-Chih Kuo(fax) who has a 7+ ERA against the rest of the NL but
somehow is to the Mets as kryptonite is to Superman. Kuofax struck out
eight batters in three and two-thirds innings. Yes — of the eleven outs,
eight were by the big K.

But more than all of that, Hong-Chih Kuo just ticks me off. Three wins now
out of four career coming against the Mets. More proof that this is how
the season is going to go: Just good enough to keep us hopeful (two wins
against Arizona), just bad enough to drive us nuts (Hong-Chih Kuo.)
