Maine (6-4) is 1-4 with a no-decision in his past sixstarts. The Mets are 1-5 over that stretch after winning Maine's first seven starts of '07. Last night, Maine departed trailing 3-1 in the sixth after a one-out single by Betemit put runners on the corners. Joe Smith entered and got a grounder to third base from Kemp, but the infield single scored Luis Gonzalez for the fourth run charged to Maine. Maine allowed more than three runs for only the second time this season - the other coming May 20, when he allowed five runs in five innings in a 6-2 loss to the Yankees. Only a half-inning before the homer barrage, the Mets had taken a 1-0 lead on Carlos Delgado's RBI single that scored Wright. Wright extended his hitting streak to 14 with a single off Kuo for his 500th career hit. He then stole second to get into scoring position for Delgado. Wright is 14-for-14 on steals this season. Kevin McReynolds has the club record for perfection, going 21-for-21 in 1988. That was the lone run scored off Kuo (1-1), who went seven innings. "The pitching is solid - we need to score runs," Wright said. "It's on the offense." --
