4.
(a) An open switch cannot pass through any current, i.e., I=0, which can be called
an open circuit. A closed switch is like a short circuit with a null voltage, i.e., V=0,
across its two terminals. Therefore, an open circuit is opposite to a short circuit just as
an open switch is opposite to a closed switch. Is it possible for human being to
recognize a black box with both the characteristics of an open circuit and a short
circuit? For a black box with both the characteristics, I=0 and V=0, how do you call
this black box? Is it an open circuit? Is it a short circuit? Is it an open and short circuit?
Or is it neither an open circuit nor a short circuit? Please give the reason to support
your answer. (8%)
(b) Please find out the fault from the all affirmative statements in Question 4(a), and
answer those following questions accordingly. (8%)
