标题[心得] 报名网页上国名的问题
时间Sun Oct 7 00:18:06 2018
大家好,我是Klaus

Dear Sir or Madam,
I was recently made aware that on GMAT's official website
https://www.mba.com/ you have listed Taiwan as a province of, or belonging to
People's Republic of China by referring Taiwan as "Taiwan, China". This is
incorrect. Despite misinformation from the authoritarian government in
Beijing, neither international law, nor the United States, recognizes China’
s claim on Taiwan.
In fact, official U.S. Government guidance
(
https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12-PartK-Chapter2.html#footnote-4)
is only the name “Taiwan” should be used. This policy includes documents
such as passports, visas, green cards, and others. Not to mention, United
Stated has a much stricter standard issuing student visa to Chinese students
than to Taiwanese students.
The identification of Taiwan as “Taiwan, China” rather than as “Taiwan”
may seem like playing with words, but it is confusing and misleading to
international test-takers who may mistakenly believe that they need to apply
to the Chinese embassy for a visa to travel to Taiwan. Considering many
countries have a reciprocal visa-waiver with Taiwan and Taiwan has never been
governed by the People’s Republic of China, it’s complete misinformation to
classify Taiwan as belonging to China.
Showing Taiwan as part of China also denies the human rights and the right to
self-determination for the 23 million people of Taiwan, who have established
a democracy that is a shining example in Asia. These rights are enshrined in
the United Nations Charter, in the International Covenant on Civil and
Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and
Cultural Rights.
I realize that the current information you have incorrect is likely due to an
oversight, so I look forward to a correction as soon as possible. I would
greatly appreciate the courtesy of a reply when the misinformation is
corrected.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Sincerely,

Dear Sir or Madam,
I was recently made aware that on

misinformation from the authoritarian government in Beijing, neither

than to Taiwanese students.
The identification of Taiwan as“Taiwan, China” rather than as“Taiwan” may
seem like playing with words, but it is very confusing and causing trouble to
test-takers who plans to take TOEFL in test centers in Taiwan.
Some test-takers may mistakenly believe that they need to register the test
(if they want to take it in Taiwan) through another website because the
Register for the TOEFL iBTR Test page
(
https://www.ets.org/toefl/ibt/register/?WT.ac=toeflhome_registerfortest_180910)
indicates:
"Testing in China (except Hong Kong and Macau): Register at
http://toefl.etest.net.cn/ or see
http://www.neea.edu.cn/. Some policies and
procedures for China may differ from those on this website."
By listing Taiwan as "Taiwan, China" may mislead test-takers to the chinese
websites, where they will not find or register test at any test centers in
Taiwan.
Showing Taiwan as part of China also denies the human rights and the right to
self-determination for the 23 million people of Taiwan, who have established
a democracy that is a shining example in Asia. These rights are enshrined in
