标题[问题] less than 和 greater than 的问题？

今天在做ＰＰ的一题
其中
选项(A)
The average salary of the managers on the task force is $5,000 less than
the average salary of all employees on the task force.
选项(B)
The average salary of the managers on the task force is $15,000 greater than
the average salary of all employees on the task force.
当我在看这题时
我会把 "less than" 和 "greater than" 分别看成 "小於" 和 "大於"
但是实际上的意思是 "少" 和 "多" 的意思
怎麽决定他们是 "小於" 或者 "少" ?
高手可以指点一下吗?
