Zarek,
Ting Shuo hear say)
Turntablist, sound artist, performer, composer, and visual artist.
Instruments: saxophone, live-electronics, flutes, percussion, found objects.
In his youth, he studied the saxophone and performed in free jazz and avant
rock bands. At the same time, he was getting obsessed with multitrack tape
machines, record players and effect boxes and he started experimenting with
many different instruments and sound making devices.
Since 1995 he lives & works in Berlin where he became an active and integral
force of the so-called "Berlin Nouvelle Vague" and the blossoming
"experimental" music scene. He has been also prolific as curator and runs the
experimental music label, Zarek.
In parallel to his experimental music and performance practice he has been
making sound installations, experimental objects, visual collages, text
scores, concrete poetry, graphic scores, and drawings. Since 2012 he focusses
on conceptual composition and experimental radio pieces.

Dino, Motoki Yoshinori, Paal Nilssen-Love,
Rabito Arimoto, Park Daham, Kyosuke Terada, Lala Reich, Tsuruya Genizai,
Soma, Lisa Lai
The idea of Jyun-Ao Caesar’s music borrows from both Eric Cordier and Otomo
Yoshihide and can be simply summed up as an approach toward the compositions
of Pan-Musique Concrète in the sense of Dajuin Yau. Technically his
experience with signal processing, analog amplification, and field recording,
as well as his knowledge of space and time led to his adoption of the
instrument. After several years of searching, he found the right effect
pedals and machines for interpreting multiple effects with input signals, as
opposed to those that shape the tone of the guitar. In his latest set-up, the
effects are integrated with signal analysis, enabling him to assign
parameters of transformation and to position the sound in the phantom image.
In this way, the electronic modulations can be controlled by how he plays,
while still retaining a degree of their own autonomy.
In his long-term collaboration with the impro-percussionist Lala Reich,
guitarist Pillof Yau and bassist Weiting Huang under the name Saint Sloth
Machine, he has composed several pieces via the concept of Pan-Musique Concrè
te and aims to represent certain contemplation of humanism and modernity in a
non-realist way. The group Saint Sloth Machine has recently transformed into
an open project joined with several other sound artists and improvisation
players.
As a part-time pseudo-improvisor, he has played with Dino, Motoki Yoshinori,
Paal Nilssen-Love, Rabito Arimoto, Park Daham, Kyosuke Terada, Lala Reich,
Tsuruya Genizai, Soma, Lisa Lai and some others not named.
