Whether pitcher Kei Igawa is on his way from Japan to Arizona remains to be seen, as a Major League source confirmed that the D-backs were one of the teams to submit a bid for the left-hander by Monday's deadline. Green's rights were sold to the Nippon Ham Fighters. The move presents an excellent opportunity for Green, who was given just 86 at-bats last year after winning the Triple-A Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player Award in 2005. "I would have liked more of an opportunity in Arizona, but with the depth that they have, it just wasn't going to happen," Green said. "I'm thankful that they gave me the chance to go to Japan." Once the paperwork is complete, Green will receive a $50,000 signing bonus in addition to a $660,000 salary in 2007. The Fighters hold an option for 2008 at $850,000. If they choose not to exercise it, they will have to pay him a $100,000 buyout. If he were to play both years there and reach certain incentives, he could stand to make close to $2 million, a large increase from the $330,000 he made with the D-backs in 2006.
