前一篇提到了笑点 这边来提提社会中的现实与黑暗面吧 Matthew Scudder系列之中 八百万种死法(8 Million Ways to Die) 算是最为人所熟知的一本 标题的八百万 指的是纽约市的人口 八百万种死法 是说每个人都可能因为不同的因素、方法而逝去 其中一个段落我很喜欢: ……Cops see too much death and squalor, and in order to go on dealing with it they often have the need to dehumanize the dead. I remember the first time I helped remove a corpse from a room in an RSO hotel. The deceased had died vomit -ing blood and had lain there for several days before his death was discovered. A veteran patrolman and I wrestled the corpse into a body bag and on the way downstairs my companion made sure the bag hit every single step. He'd have been more careful with a sack of potatoes. I can still recall the way the hotel's other residents looked at us. And I can remember how my partner went through the dead man's belongings, scooping up the little cash he had to his name, counting it deliberately and dividing it with me. I hadn't wanted to take it. "Put it in your pocket," he told me. "What do you think happens to it otherwise? Somebody else takes it. Or it goes to the state. What's the State of New York gonna do with 44 dollars? Put it in your pocket, then buy yourself some perfumed soap and try to get this poor fucker's stink off your hands." I put it in my pocket. Later on, I was the one who bounced bagged corpses down the stairs, the one who counted and divided their leavings. Someday, I suppose, it'll come full circle, and I'll be the one in the bag. 大意是说，因为警察一天到晚都要处理屍体，基於一种心理防御机转，他们会不把那些受 害者当人看(类似PTSD之中，漠然以对的那种态度。比如被强暴的人之後复述过去那段不堪 的回忆时，会说得事不关己，像是在讲别人的故事一样。) 在拖屍袋的时候会刻意去 碰撞阶梯，好像比一袋马铃薯还不值。还会把屍体搜刮一顿，反正他身上的钱不是被下一 个经手的人拿走就是被充公，把钱拿了，起码可以去买块香皂把手上的屍臭洗掉。(有种： 我帮你处理後事，处理这些又是血又是粪的，还遭受了精神创伤，拿你一点钱也不为过吧 的意味在 :p 说得也是阿，死人既不会致谢，也无法抗议，还是留给活人作主吧) 最後一段说，Matt自己也开始步上了当初教他这麽做的警官的後尘，好像是一种循环一样 ，从一开始不拿死者的遗物，小心翼翼抬屍袋 =>到自己也跟着这麽做，甚至把这种行为 模式传承下去 => 到最後，说不定某一天会轮到他自己躺在屍袋里面 看到最後一句真的有种毛骨悚然的感觉...很无奈，很现实，很残酷阿 我本身又是个想很多，很无法面对死亡的人， 看到这句话真的是五味杂陈..... 比较起来，Matt系列还是沈重多了。 密探Tanner系列根本就在搞笑， 杀手系列其实还满无厘头的 雅贼系列既无厘头又搞笑 看这三个系列都可以很开怀，很放空 唯独Matt系列每次看了就会变得很郁卒 /_\ (没办法，谁叫他是个酒鬼又有创伤，想法负面一点也是理所当然 :p) 另外 同样是Scudder系列的"屠宰场之舞"(A Dance at the Slaughterhouse) 故事主轴跟Nicolas Cage主演过的电影-8MM-雷同 (其实屠宰场之舞的年代先於8MM 但8MM应该不是改编自此书 只是构想雷同) 如果喜欢电影8MM的话 应该会很容易进入状况 另外 喜欢知名漫画--Sin City (万恶城市) 的人 或许也会喜欢Block的小说喔 ^^ -- 《It was, he noted, a two-and-a-half-car garage, which was handy, he thought, if you happen to have two and a half cars.》 □■Hit List■□ by Lawrence Block --
