最近要写一篇关於Hemingway的报告 我选择了他一篇很着名的短篇小说"a clean, well-lighted place"(1993) 大部分的人应该都知道Hemingway是在the lost generation里相当着名的一位作家 根据我读到的资料里表示: 一次战後最主要的影响是人们失去"faith"，他们不再相信政府甚至是上帝的力量 they think that everything was an illusion, including God 而这些思想和之後崛起的存在主义有点类似 "他们不相信上帝，our birth is just an accident. there is no order in the universe. But this does not mean that life must be meaningless. It simply means that we, must determine what the purpose of our lives is. We must set our own standards and live by them. Thus, our principles and our actions are everything: if we fail to live up to our principles, then life is truly meaningless" 而这些想法我觉得和"a clean, well-lighted place"里面所提到的nada有些类似 不知道是否可以把这篇文章也归为"the lost generation"这一类主题的文章呢 (因为我知道他描写"the lost generation"这个主题的作品为"sun also rises" 反而很少人提到"a clean, well-lighted place") 那这样我essay的内容可以朝什麽样的方向去发展呢 是要分析他的写作风格、形式，或是与thelost generation/ extentialism作连结呢 我已经想了好久了 可是总是觉得想的不够好 想听听大家的意见 谢谢^^ --
