浩大工程的航海篇来了 图文版: http://0rz.tw/YOZe1 看完这篇不晓得前面说觉得可以开始看原文版的网友会不会後悔 ^^" ============================================================== 船是古时候重要的交通工具，在今日也是相当专业的一个领域，相关的词汇非常 多非常广。这里解释一些书里比较容易见到的。 首先是有关船的部位的名字。在船上给指示的时候，通常不会说到船的左边集合、 到船的後面集合，船的前後左右有特别的名字，比较不容易混淆。船的前侧叫做bow， 後侧叫做Stern，右侧是starboard，左侧是port。船通常都用port侧靠港，高级 军官的寝室通常在starboard侧。方向的话，往前是foward，往後是aft。prow是 船首往前凸出水面的部分。中古时代的大船，都是帆船，帆本身是sail，越大的 船越多桅 (mast)，也就是垂直绑了帆的柱子，材料是原柱叫spar。快速航行的时 候靠风力，但是要靠港的时候，就要把帆收起来(furl the sail)，改用人力 (oarsman)划桨(oar)。船壳是hull，船的龙骨是keel。甲板(deck)边缘船的上缘 叫做gunwale。如果你趴在船边吐，那就是趴在gunwale上。船长掌的向方向盘一 样的舵(helm)是控制船的最後的方向舵，方向舵的轴心是tiller，叶片是rudder， 飞机尾端垂直翼上控制左右的叶片也是rudder。停船(moor)的时候要抛锚 (anchor)。要离港的话就要解缆、解锚(unmoor)。 [前後左右部位图] [prow图] 帆的配置有分纵帆 (fore-and-aft rigged) 及横帆 (square rigged)，还有 Lateen or latin-rig 是一种三角帆。 纵帆是前後拉的帆，如下面sloop的图。横帆的话是像这样: [横帆图] Lateen [三角帆图] Galley是战船，有帆也有大批的桨手，设计用来冲撞对方的船或者是捉对厮杀用 的。schooner是一种双桅帆船，前桅比後桅要矮。brigatine是前帆为横帆，後帆 为纵帆的双桅帆船。skiff是小船，休闲或捕鱼用的，不一定有帆。Sloop是单桅 的船。carrack是十五世纪葡萄牙人发展出来的三至四桅的帆船，可以长途航行做 探险或商务之用。dhow是阿拉伯的lateen rigged的单桅帆船。 Galley [Galley图] brigatine [brigatine图] sloop [sloop图] carrack [carrack图] dhow [dhow图] Sextant中文是六分仪，是用来测量天体与地平线之间的角度。最常用的就是测量 北极星的高度，以便知道所在纬度。最近有看过天地明察这个日本电影的人，也 会有看过里面主人有拿过手持的六分仪。 [六分仪图] barnacle是会附着在船底、浮标，还有鲸鱼的皮肤上的甲壳类生物，中文叫藤壶。 船偶而要整个拉上岸来保养，必须要把船底的barnacle清掉，要不然会破坏结构。 不过barnacle对鲸鱼的皮肤病没有伤害，barnacle靠着附着在鲸鱼上面便於取得 食物，但是鲸鱼并没有得到什麽好处也没有坏处。这种关系在生物学上叫做片立 共生(commensalism)。讲到鲸鱼，顺带一提龙涎香叫ambergris，字义是灰色的 琥珀。 [barnacle图] Pirates, Privateers, Buccaneers, Corsairs通常中文都翻成海盗。pirates大家 比较熟，就是攻击其他船只来抢劫财物或绑架换赎金的人。privateers比较像佣兵 ，收了钱帮人家打仗的船只和船员。Buccaneers (也是坦帕湾的美式足球队的名字 ，坦帕湾海盗队)是特指十七世纪末，一开始是在海上贩卖肉品给其他船只，後来 发现用抢的比较快的那群人。英、法、西都有在雇用他们。corsairs是特指外国海 盗，特别是伊斯兰和法国的。曾经有黑多伊斯兰海盗霸占着地中海。在海盗的黄金 时代（1650-1730），法国的海盗也被称为corsairs。 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Age_of_Piracy http://latinamericanhistory.about.com/od/Pirates/a/ Pirates-Privateers-Buccaneers-And-Corsairs.htm 单字表 Bow 船前侧 Prow 船前侧 Stern 船後侧 Port 船左侧 Starboard 船右侧 Forward 往船前 Aft 往船後 Mast 桅 spar (船用)圆材、圆杆 Sail 帆 fore-and-aft rigged sail 纵帆 square rigged sail 横帆 lateen 三角帆 Oar 桨 Oarsman 划桨手 Anchor 锚 Gunwale 船缘 Tiller 舵轴 Rudder 舵叶片 Hull 船身 Prow 船前侧在水面以上突出去的部位 bilge 船底部通常在水下的部分 Helm 舵 Sextant 六分仪 Forecastle 艏楼、前部的水手舱 aftcastle or sterncastle 船尾舱房，通常是船长的舱房 Barnacle 藤壶 Capsize, careen v. 把船上下翻转 Furl v. 收帆 Moor v. 停靠 Moorage n. 停靠 Flotsam 遇难船只的飘浮残骸 Galley 战船 Galleass 主要用桨推动的战船 carrack 大型商船 Schooner 双桅帆船 brigatine 前桅为横帆，後桅为纵帆的双桅帆船 Sloop 单桅帆船 dhow 阿拉伯单桅三角帆船 Skiff 小船 Corsair 海盗 Heel v. 船因风力或离心力往侧边倾斜 hulk 废船 冰与火例句: To the west, in the shadows of Sunspear's massive walls, mud-brick shops and windowless hovels clung to the castle like barnacles to a galley's hull.
