Monfils, the No. 8 seed, today defeated his friend and room-mate, Josselyn Ouanna, 6-0 6-3. This is a breakthrough win for Monfils who has been runner up in the past three tournaments he has played in. Israel's Shahar Peer, seeded No. 13, has stormed through the girls' singles, today defeating No. 3 seed Nicole Vaidisova from the Czech Republic 6-1 6-4. In boys' doubles the all-American pair of Brendan Evans and Scott Oudsema totally outclassed local boys David Galic (Frankston, VIC) and David Jeflea (Green Valley, NSW), winning 6-1 6-1.
