He left the Lisbon side for Real Sociedad de Futbol in 1997 but returned to Sporting in 2000, remaining with the club until last summer. "I would like to have ended my career at Sporting but it was not possible," said Sa Pinto, who scored ten goals in 45 appearances for Portugal.
