Maritimo were sunk with a great showing by Helder Postiga, a goal to start and one to finish, Lucho scoring the penalty that separated Postiga's brace. The first time saw the hosts hog possession but not really do anything with it. Maritimo had a clear mindset at the Dragao: press the rival strongly and starve Anderson of possession. This worked for 35 minutes until Lisandro saw Pepe shake off his marker, passed to the centre-back who tapped on for Helder Postiga (35 min) to score. The second half saw Maritimo bring on Wenio and Kanu in a bid to even things up. This started to heat things up for FC Porto, the Dragoes reverting to the sort of fragile midfield that appeared in both recent defeats. Fortunately for home interests the islanders from Madeira didn't make the most of some huge gaps that appeared in Porto's rearguard. Jesualdo Ferreira saw this danger and neutralised it by bringing Paulo Assuncao on for Lisandro, actually being booed by home fans for what seemed lie a cowardly move at face value. A minute later the Coach would be proved right as Helder Postiga was brought down by Gregory. Lucho Gonzalez (63 min) bagged the spot kick to give the hosts some breathing space. Bruno Moraes came on to a standing ovation – the Brazilian having spent the past 18 months in dry dock and making his return to competitive football at 'home'. Maritimo had now assumed a full-on attack and FC Porto took advantage. Anderson, once again playing with a maturity and precision that defy his age, assisted Helder Postiga (86 min) as he streaked in from the left to bang in his brace.
