His mind was spinning just like the world in his vision, where things are all subtle while vivid. Life felt distant, his hometown, the streets, his house and family. Karen took the kids and they never came back, but he still got the old dog, Sir Garrison, to take care of. Yes, the old Garrison who likes to poop a ton per day. He couldn't leave his house full of dog shits. Hence, he clawed on the ground - the soil which was loosen into pile of dusts because of the grenade exploded here earlier - and stood up. After he coughed out the part of this foreign land in his mouth, he shouted, "Barney! Lovan! Anyone?" But no one replied. He saw somebody just beside his almost-broken right leg. Yet it was only some body indeed. It's Captain Lovan. The squad's leader. A piece of grenade in his neck's right side took his life. Maybe the future of his sweet family too. Barney wasn't too far away, so John could already see all the bullet holes on Barney's back. It was a mess but John remembered that before the grenade, some enemy squad came out from the well and sprayed all the place. Barney ran to the front and protected him and Lovan. "It's only me now, ay?" thought John. The enemies, back into the well hiding from the explosion were probably not gonna wait too long. John picked up the radio in Captain Lovan's hand, and quickly - as he could - hid himself into a wooden house still standing. "Captain Lovan, do you copy?" said radio. "Overlord, this is Corporal Barney, we got in an enemy ambush and there's only me now. Over." A short silence. "Copied. Please head to the evac as soon as possible, we're sending out a chopper to pick you up. Over." "Overlord, but what about the mission?" "Corporal, we're far beyond the limit of loss already now and we can't risk your life on a mission on your own. The mission is aborted. Head to evac and wait for pick up. Over." John couldn't believe what he heard. Michael, Petre, Donuts, and now Barney and Lovan. They lost their life in this and in the end they won't even bring the hostage back? He just couldn't let this happen. He raised his hand with a radio in it. "Overlord, please tell Karen to take care of Garrison. That old dog would sink in his own shit if there're no human hands around. Over." "Corporal, I can't -" John threw the radio into the wall. A helicopter was already on their way to pick him up. The hostage was believed to be at somewhere in this small village. However when they finally arrived with only three soldiers left, they couldn't find the hostage anywhere, and that's when the ambush happened. This is the last chance. Of course John could leave with the helicopter and came back in the next operation, but they're now busted, the enemies knew that the hostage wasn't a successful trade for peace and negotiation. What if there won't be the next operation? John must decide, leave, both from the place and everything in vain, or stay and accomplish the mission. It didn't took him even a breath to confirm his mind. John left the village and headed for the evac, took the chopper and went back to America. He's now retired from army special force and walks Sir Garrison three times per day. Unfortunately, he hostage captured by foreign terrorist is later confirmed killed. --
