There's nothing in this world that you can't learn from. Even when picking up your dog's poop you can learn advanced planning skills (gotta bring small baggies), hone observation skills (why am I the only person picking up after my dog?), explore business opportunities (I can take a photo of that person not picking up after her dog and send her picture in for a reward), and improve your personal sense of well-being (I have high standards ︿(￣︶￣)︿) When you can't learn from something, you've stopped trying to learn. Consider my recent personal experience: At my last job our team was asked to localize a workflow application that our company had just started to use. We were professional finance translators but not localizers, and it became a crappy and boring job, involving us reading thousands of lines of nonsense sentences ("click here", "October", "An error occurred"). What's worse, this was on top of our already heavy workload. Working on that crappy job, I learned the necessary error-checking processes and that my company did not appreciate what we do, despite paying us well. I left six months later. Now fast forward to my current job. A client comes in, and asks my current company to help them fix their application. Within ten minutes I realized what they're asking for is pretty much what I did for that crappy job! Within a day I had the complete review procedure set up, and won not only the client but accolades from my current boss.
