I'm bored. I still can't sleep. I don't know how to start my midterm essay and I haven't done any research for it. I'm distracting myself from my problems by coming here, so I will share some of my writing with you. I mentioned I love anime, right? I do dabble in fanfiction writing now and then. My writings aren't the best, because I have seen much better on the web. I can't really reconstruct scenery that well, and I suck at fighting scenes. Fanfiction is like creating new lives for your favorite characters. Right now, I'm trying to do a cross-over between two of my current favorites, Naruto and Ares. Naruto is about a spirited boy named Naruto, who was dealt a bad hand at birth and has worked hard to become a capable ninja. He was considered the village pariah for something that was out of his control, and was despised by the adults in the village and shunned by children his own age. He grew up alone, save for a few adults that cared, and eventually gained friends his own age. He has the noble goal to protect all his friends, who are his precious people. He has the strongest of the demon beasts, the nine-tailed Kyuubi, sealed into him at birth. Being a jinchuriki has granted him superb healing abilities and limitless chakra, but has wrecked havoc on his chakra control to the point where he failed the ninja graduating exam three times. Currently, a group called the Akatsuki is in pursuit of Naruto for his demon, and Naruto is doing his best to protect his friends and his village. Ares on the other hand is about a gifted boy named Ares. He was also dealt a bad hand when he was young, except an event happened that led to retrograde amnesia where he forgot everything that occurred. He was found and taken in by a skilled swordsman and taught the art of the sword. He learned all of his master's techniques and was about to inherit his master's sword when another swordsman tricked and killed his master. Ares swore revenge on the Red-Eyed Swordsman that killed his master, Chiron. He then joined a mercernary group and met a group of friends and had many adventures with the mercernaries. However, one of his friends, Michael, was actually the prince of a neighboring kingdom and was called back to take the position of the king. Afterwards, he decided to invade the country. His first order of business was to kill all the mercernaries, including his friends. Ares and a couple others survived the massacre, and swore vengence. Currently, Michael is invading the rest of the country while Ares and the other mercernaries joined forces with the king to fight against his army for a chance to kill him in person. That's a brief overview of the two universes. I want to create an alternate universe where I can bring Naruto into the Ares universe. My current thoughts include the creation of an OC (original character) who is Naruto's first childhood friend and who wanted to explore the world before becoming a ninja. The countries from the Ares universe are separated from the ninja countries by a giant ocean, and by chance Naruto and the OC got on the only boat that made the trip across the ocean and dumped them onto Chronos, the country Ares is in. Without money and a place to stay, Naruto and the OC are forced to join the Temple Mercernaries (Ares's mercernary group) and meet Ares and his gang. I haven't decided when to insert Naruto and the OC though. Naruto will be crushed if one of his new friends turns on him, and I can't really see Michael leaving Naruto alive if he knows how powerful Naruto is. But yeah, Naruto and the OC get excellent swordsmanship training from Ares, and become specialized in kenjutsu (ninja art of the sword) and surprise everyone when they finally return to Konoha after helping Ares with his quest. As for the timeline, Naruto and the OC will be around 12 or 13 when they step onto Chronos. In the manga, Naruto was 12 when he took his third graduation exam. I am thinking of having the OC convince him to leave around 10 or 11, spend a year or two traveling to other countries, learning their customs and basic jutsus (that they can find or con retired ninjas into teaching them), before making their way to the farthest country on the edge of the land. It's just an idea so far,but it's stuck in my head. I still have to think up believable scenes and make up the OC's personality. I've already thought of a name for the OC though. She will be called Yuki. She will have shoulder length black hair, separated into two pig-tails, and brown eyes. She will have superb chakra control on par with Sakura, but also have greater than normal chakra reserve (on par with Sasuke at 12, not normal for kuniochi). She will graduate earlier than Naruto so she won't know the Rookie nine. I'd love to know what anyone thinks of my idea. I wonder if anyone else reads or writes fanfiction. ^_^ --
