They criticize, judge, speak mean words of no constructions to hurt : others' feelings and then feel good about themselves. : Those smart-ass especially thinks so. They think others are stupid, and : themselves superior. They have no respect for every human being but : a crappy and wretched self-esteem deep down inside. As a Cognitive Science : major, I feel those people who deeply feel insecure has the tendency to try : to put others down in order to satisfy their poor self-esteem. Even they : appear arrogant and superior, in fact they are an object of pity. Observing : carefully and investigate their background, you will find those aspects that : they feel superior about are what they desire most and have a lack of those : beforehand. : Live is a long term journey, and I believe this kind of snobbish and selfish : thoughts, will gain them no respect nor true friends. They can gain material : success or short-term status/power, yet they never win others'heart in the : long term. : A good prediction is that those smart-ass often have poor marriage life, : superficial friends based on benefits, and solitary existence. : They do not have a sincere and true heart to earn a life-long friend or true : lover. They have no concepts of sacrifice, loyalty, sympathy and compassion. : Birds of a feather flock together, so those smart-asses gather with people : similar/alike. Among these smart-asses they trap and trick each other, jealous : of and compete with each other. Their precautious and insincere nature makes : them no real friends. They appear to be affluent and having lots of : acquaintances, but deep down inside they know no one they can count on. : They have high IQ, but low intelligence of compassion. : They crush others' ego from time to time, without even feeling guilty. : That's why they are always lonely, even they are surrounded with people. : And things turn back to them. What they gained is hatred and resentment : from others. : Even they win the whole world, including the power they want, : they will eventually lose their soul. : Those smart-ass often think people with integrity and compassion are stupid, : for they think those decent people focus on things that is of no immediate : benefits to themselves. Their Value System is pure logical, like a robot, : without flesh and blood. Their only flesh and blood is their self, and : selfishness is of top-priority in their dictionary. : When they criticize us as stupid, they do not understand that there are : things more important in our life other than mere benefits or better chance : of survival. : In my opinion, they have NO CULTRUE. They are like those nouveau riches. : A real educated, nurtured, cultrued human should have a basic respect and : kindness to all human beings, regardless of their race, economic status, : degree, gender, religion, even sexual-orientation. : Alas!! What kind of education system produced this kind of sick and : disgusting cultrue? Pure competition without installing characters and moral : standards is a pity in our country. The disgusting culture is filled with : snobbish and aggressive thoughts, of human evilness. And they justify this : evilness by saying that's the realistic life of society. : The most successful and decent people I've seen, are not only smart, but also : have a heart of gold and intelligence of wisdom. They are compassionate to : others and have a sense of contribution. These people earn reputation for the : long term, even after they die, and are memorized in the heart of many people. : ps. No offense, everybody. I just got pissed off by someone's discourtesy : yesterday. I know there are many nice and decent people in Taiwan. :) : What I am presenting is only part of our culture. I need to vent anyway...XD : ------------------------------------------------------ : sometimes, a very simple thought or thing can : SMASH complicated/disgusting things. I know it's no use to say "calm down" now, but I still want to say these people are not worth your fury. Unfortunately, I have those people like you mentioned around me at school. They often lash out without thinking twice and never know how peopel hurt much by them, though they didn't mean to do it. Actually, I don't feel much anger to what they do because I realized this is part of the dark side of human world. Miserably, I figured this out when I was in elementary school from the teacher. (It's true.) Students without good grades received hard punishment instead of improvement conduction with patience, even with some vulgar words. To be honest, I thought I got a message that "Power comes from upper postion." And power makes people arrogant and nasty. I don't know whether it's related to the "bourgeois theory" or something more professional or academic, but that's what I saw. Dark side is still everywhere. We choose not to step in. --
