Hey guys! How are you all doing? This is my first post on Engtalk and I need to make an apology first because I am very likely going to be whining and complaining. > < I'm now doing my exchange program in a country in which citizens despise words like "relaxed" and "lay-back". Although I know it's my own fault for setting some teribly-wrong assumptions about my exchange-student-life, and I should be tough and brave and everything .....I still want to say... OH MY LORD!!! I WANT TO GO BACK TO TAIWAN SOOOOO MUCH!!!!! I seriously don't know what's the XXXXing matter with me. School has already started for five weeks and I still feel like a freakingly-stupid-and-slow outsider who doesn't know how to fit into the whole environment. Schoolwork is always too hard for me. I still can't understand up to 35% of local's English. (Why the hell did E$T gave me a score that would lead to to the ironically-false assumption that I was prepared for studying in an English-speaking-country. GIVE ME MY 150 USD BACK!!!!!) Beside all these obstacles, I feel greatly attacked by the fact that students here are so intellegent, diligent and most important of all, they know exactly want they want in the future and they GET them. As a Taiwanese student who has already turned 21 this summer, I still have no idea what I'm going to do with my life. Looking back now, I noticed I was only absorbing what were siad on my textbooks without even once questioning them for 15 years. I never generated any thoughful opinions in class, and I only spoke up because I was asked to. These past habits make me an total idiot now... It's really frustrating! My friends tried to cheer me up by saying things like "it's never too late to start being a thoughtful person", "isn't that the thing you wanted to get for doing exchange? Being struck!!!," and blah blah blah... Unfortunately, I'm a huge fan of pessimism. > < For the past few weeks, I still couldn't pull myself together and face the challenge. Oh dear, I really am whining.. What's the weather like now in Taiwan? I feel so jealous that you can enjoy the fall and winter atmosphere. We only have summer here. = = I believe there's also a lot of boardmates who are living in other countries by themselves, right? I don't really miss my family (haha, evil child). But I miss nightmarkets and streets of Taipei soooooo much. (I swear to God I'm going to lie on the ground of SHI-DA nightmarket once I get back to show my great admiration and appreciation towards it.) Although at this moment I feel kind of sad for our education system, I still feel really proud of our homeland. Hope everthing works fine and smoothly with all of you. :) Thanks for finishing reading this post. I hope I will come up with something more cheerful next time. --
