Hello Lorraine, Welcome to the board, nice to meet you. I see you mentioned on your blog about the problem where you need music to keep you going when you have a lot of work. But then, you build up strong associations with that music, usually of bad things. It was also interesting to see the big pile of sugar free candy on your blog too. I remember using sugar highs (real sugar unfortunately) and non-stop snacking on a daily basis to keep myself going, stop my concentration from fading. I can hardly imagine how much damage I did to myself during that time. Actually, I found that 'fizzy water' stopped me from eating too much. It might be worth a try - some supermarkets sell carbonated water here. Going back to music... It's interesting to see that there are female equivalents of 'eye of the tiger', the only song which will keep any guy working out for an extra 3 minutes at the gym... When I did my PhD, for about 2 years afterwards, I couldn't listen to any of the music that had kept me going through the final 18 months of the PhD (the writeup). But, I found that later, I could begin to listen again, and enjoy those songs once more. Which specialisation are you studying for your MD? I noticed psychiatry and neurology being mentioned.
