As a university teacher: Don't give anything expensive, it feels embarrassing for teachers. A photograph of everyone in your year, signed with a little mesage from each student, would be very valuable to most teachers, and won't cost much. Don't do more. Actually, as a teacher, I would rather see all my students in a 'cheaper restaurant' than see only my richer students in the 'famous hotel'. There's also many famous hotels that aren't expensive. The grand hotel offers good prices in some of it's restaurants, and is famous. You can have a good meal for just a few hundred kuai. You don't need to impress your teacher by giving them monetary value. There's more to life than money, even in Taiwan. Show you respect them by making sure everyone can turn up; give them something little that lets them remember you, and can be easily put on the office wall to make it more colourful and happy. In a few years, write a letter to your favourite teacher, thanking them for helping you. That will be even more valuable to them. Let them know they changed someone's life, even a little.
