I have my own to live, too. I take a similar stance with respect to marriage. The 'happily ever after' couples found in fairy tales are extremely rare. And in my own experience, I find none. All one hears is the 'fast-food' marriage--Hollywood style. Marriage is an artificial institution created to support traditional lifestyle and human dynamics. In this modern world of ours, I see very little point of getting married. Because I personally think it is possible to be involved with more than one person at a time (simply because we can meet more people than those who lived hundreds of years ago), marrying 'one' person for the rest of my life feels like a prison cage. I desire freedom, and if I happen to like two or more individuals at the same time, I firmly believe I am entitled to do so without interference from family and society. The hell with those who preach 'marriage' and 'monogamous relationship' as the ONLY ways humans could interact. There is not only ONE path in the journey of life, as the OP so succintly states. Everyone requires different experiences to build up their 'portfolio of life'. And to those who keep bugging me with 'go get a gf' or 'get married' or the the like, please go have a life of your own and stop being nosy if my unique life doesn't fit within your narrow view of life. In fact, I feel very proud to be thinking and acting outside of the box (i.e., the societal norm and bland conformity). --
