Well I've read the two above and I'm here offering some ideas for what you quested. Basically I'm at that spoken-English-is-damned-important side; I know that once a person's ability in speaking's great, there won't be too many problems when it comes to learning new words, phrases and so on, since the easiest way to memorise something is always to use it often, agreed? So here comes the problem: "Alright I'm willing to speak, but hey what am I gunna say?" In fact, to me, I'm that someone who ENJOYS finding out ANYTHING that I am interested in, yes, in English. For example, I'm a big fan of art; hence I'm actually aware of almost all professional terms of art AND artists. I can spell from Leonardo Da Vinci to Vincent van Gogh without even thinking. That wasn't a show-off. My point was that, I know many people here are dying to improve their speaking abilities but they're just simply headless. To me it's never been a problem, though, since I'm always looking for new terms or words, or even slangs, which fit in my interests, or my needs; and then I write something down all the time-- of course not just copying the vocab down, I write down SENTENCES with the USAGES of the word or phrase I'm learning. Then I try talking about it with my friends. Well guess the only lucky thing happened to me is that I have been abroad for a couple of years, and I got tons of foreign friends, who mostly come from the States or UK. I talk to them on AOL, and ask them questions; this is something anyone knows how to do, isn't it? Find someone that speaks great English, PROPER English even better, and then talk over subjects that either interest you or not. I'm sure you'll improve soon if you do so; at least this is the way that I do to make sure my ability in speaking doesn't slip away :P Cheers. --
