Hello guys: Icome here to ask for your suggestions. I am teaching at a cram school for children. All teachers and students should try their best to speak English all the time. Honestly, we are forbidden to use Chinese to communicate with one another. The purpose is basically good. I see children's effort to put their words into English, The boss attempts to establish all English environment for English learners. Thus, all courses, including readings, are taught in English. Certainly, those children have native speakers to instruct them how to speak fluently. My primary job is to help children review the reading they've learnt. I think it is not difficult for me to teach English reading in English. However, what really confuses me is that I am recruited to teach "grammar" in English. At the very beginning, I accept my assignment without any protest. After two weeks, I am aware that it is rather time-consuming and I will fall behild the schedule I made. Those children have least sense of what "adjective" means in Chinese. Thus, I have to tell words like "big" "small" are adjective in a sense. Moreover, those children said that Ispeak too fast for them to understand. I think they don't truly understand my Englsih explanations. Actually, I explains grammar poorly, especially in English. As far as we know, childern are easily distracted and lose their patience in class. The children I teach grow impatient in class and keep saying what I said doesn't make sense to them. Dear all do you have any suggestion for me? Should I stop explaining English grammar in English ? For better understanding, should I use Chinese in class? Or, I should continue teaching in English It is challenging but can improve my English ability to some extent Ifeel puzzled truly. Anyone shares the same experience as mine.
