标题Re: [Ask ] How to distinguish "watch" and "see"
时间Wed Jan 11 12:23:58 2006
OK, I think it's time to discuss the original topic :)
Difference between 'watch' and 'see'....
Hmmm... without looking at the dictionary or checking out any English textbooks
I'll just think from common sense what the difference between the two words
are.
Both 'watch' and 'see' involve looking at something, and to that extent, they
have essentially the same meaning. However, I would say that 'watch' has a
more purposeful meaning. That is, you choose to look at whatever it is that
you are looking at.
eg. I am watching TV.
You chose the action of turning on the TV to watch programs.
'see', on the other hand, may not be so purposeful. So it may literally mean
what you see simply becasue your eyes are open.
eg. I see a tree on the road.
Hope that helps ^^
