When you said "you're amazing" to an opposite sex, it doesn't have to have SPECIAL intentions at all. He or she is just expressing how surprised he/she feels about what you've done. It's a positive feeling though. I think this expression is natural and neutral. I said "you're amazing" to some guy friends before, but I didn't feel anything special for him, and he never misunderstood me. --
